RIVERSIDE CEMETERY, Garden St.

An Amistad African named Foone is buried here. After telling friends he had despaired of ever going home again, Foone drowned while swimming in the nearby Farmington Canal basin, an apparent suicide. His grave is just to the left of the central road of the cemetery, between the war memorial and the Indian monument at the far end. Across the river are the Meadows, where Africans raised their own crops.
